The Villages RV Club Meeting of Friday, December 12, 2008

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Thanks to Becky Rhoton for making our coffee, much appreciated.

1.  Secretary’s Report: Jo Spinks read the minutes of Nov. 14, 2008 and they were approved..

Many thanks was given to all the wonderful members who helped sit with Sally.

2.  Treasurer’s Report: Joe Bertoldi reported a balance of $6,876 for the end of Nov.

3.  Sunshine Report: Christie King reported that a sympathy card was sent to Frank Boissey in memory of Sally Wood.  A Letter from Frank Boissey was read thanking his committee for all of their hard work during his tenure.  He also thanked the members of the RV Club for all of their help during Sally’s illness.  At this time Christie has resigned from Sunshine Chairman.

4.  Wagon Master’s Report: given by Wagon Master Elect, Fred Bryant for Frank Boissey.

A survey has been placed at the front door for all to fill out and return with your input.  Remember: any volunteers for wagon masters is greatly appreciated. 

Eve Sandy thanked Nancy Martin, Karen Weber, Becky Hulbert, Barb Spar and Carol Powell for all of their help with the Christmas Party.

Many thanks to Irwin & Christie King and Walt & Carol McKechnie for the Turning Wheel Rally.  Thanks was also given to Ron & Nancy Martin and Jim & Pat Osborn for their Sanibel Rally.  Please visit our RV website, http://www.tvrvc.org/ for up-coming list of rallies and events, and informational tips on how to be a wagon master of a trip.  Our webmaster, Don Crosby will update the rally schedule list on the 1st and 3rd Thurs. of every month on the website.

5.  RV’s broken into in the lot on Harvest Road off  Rolling Acres Road .  Several Rvs have been broken into.  Things to be aware of: covers on the roofs were ripped open and the criminals pushed the fans through and entered the coaches in that manner.  During the time Irwin King’s coach was broken into the Lady Lake Police informed him of a state law, “Victim of Crime Advocate”.  This  state law is to assist victimized people over the age of 60 years.  The police will help you  fill out a form to aid you in  filing for compensation of your loss and any injuries.

Any existing members are reminded to pick up your new free 2009 membership cards.

6.  Speaker: Kevin Ganus, Asset Management Specialist from AG Edwards Mr Ganus spoke  on the seriousness of sound investments not based on your emotions at the time of investing.

7.  New Members: Five new couples were welcomed.

8.  50/50 drawing: Annual Christmas tradition: all incoming monies were given out, not 50%.

9.  Irwin King thanked all the old Board Members for all their help during the past year.   Irwin also presented  President Elect,  Mark Hulbert with the ceremonious gavel.

The Villages RV Club Meeting of Friday, November 14, 2008 .

 President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m.

 Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

 Thank you to Samantha and our friends at Turning Wheel for the pastries this a.m.

 A decision was made by the presiding Board and the probable new Board to eliminate the membership fee for 2009 to the existing members.  All existing members will be able to pick up their membership cards at the next meeting.

 1.  Secretary’s Report: Jo Spinks read the minutes of October 10, 2008 and they were approved  (President Irwin King stated that approximately $150.00 was given to Hospice on behalf of the RV supplies and equipment donated by the family of Joe Musorrafiti.).

2.  Treasurer’s Report: Joe Bertoldi reported a balance of $6,960.00.

3.  Sunshine Committee: Christie King was happy to state that no cards were sent out this month.  She also stated Sally Wood is now residing at Hospice’s Tuscany House.  A big Thank You to all of the members who have visited and sat with Sally.

4.  Wagon Master’s Report: Representing Frank Boissey was Ron Collins: Thanks was given to Len & Peggy Holdsworth for the Panama Canal Cruise;  Mark & Becky Hulbert for the Fantasy Feast Rally; also to  Jim & Pat Osborn and Ron & Nancy Martin for the Sanibel Rally. Eve Sandy stated that the cost for the Christmas Party tickets for the food alone is over $29.00 each, therefore you are getting a great deal purchasing a ticket for only $25.00.

Al Rhoton stated that the next Night Golf will be Thurs., Jan. 29, 2009 at Saddlebrook for $10. Samantha, from Turning Wheel spoke on the next Rally of Nov. 17th to 20th.

 5.  Questions on Parking your RVs at home: Walt McKechnie, who is a member of Community Watch spoke regarding the 72 hour rule.  This rule can be found in the 2009 phone book on page 8, item #9.  Basically it says you may park your RV in your driveway or on the street at your house for 72 hours.  This is to assist you when you are loading and unloading.  Remember  not to block stop signs and use the need of cones if necessary.

6.  Slate of candidates were presented: since no additional candidates were added last month or this month, the names are: for Pres., Mark Hulbert; Vice Pres., Joe Humphrey; Treasurer, Walt Mckechnie; Secretary, Jo Spinks and Wagon Master, Fred Bryant.  The voting in of the new slate was unanimous.  The old & new Boards will meet next month  

7.  Coffee Committee:  In order to have coffee at our monthly meetings,  Becky Rhoton has volunteered to chair and to prepare coffee.   Helpers are welcome.  

8.  New Members: Three new couples  were welcomed..

9.  Speaker: Dr. Jennifer Teitelbaum, from Mulberry Grove Animal Hospital:   Dr. T. spoke about traveling safely with your pets.  She reminded us of the severe importance of getting  vaccinations for our pets and maintaining a current record of their meds and shots.  Always remember not to leave your pet locked up in a car, especially in the heat of the summer.

10.  Speaker for December: Kevin Ganus, an Asset Management Specialist from AG Edwards.

11.  50/50 drawing, $40, $30. & $30.

12.  Next meeting, Fri., Dec. 12th, at 9:30 for sign-ups and 10:00 am for regular meeting.

The Villages RV Club Meeting, Friday, October 10, 2008 

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 10:35 a.m.

A wonderful breakfast was had by all and a big Thanks to Barb Fabeck for chairing the event, and thanks to everyone for bringing all those wonderful dishes. 

l.  Secretary’s Report: Jo Spinks read the minutes of Sept. 12, 2008 and they were approved. 

2.  Treasurer’s Report: Joe Bertoldi reported a balance of $4, 631. 

3.  Sunshine Report: Christie King stated cards were sent to Fred Frances who has been ill, Joan Musorrafiti on the death of her husband Joe,  Dan Ozimek for his problems with hip surgery and Tom Fox due to surgery on his hand. 

4.  Chairwoman for the Christmas Party for 2009 has been accepted by Carol McKechnie, many thanks. 

5.  Vacancy exists for chairperson or persons for the Annual Joyce Armstrong Tournament.  Anyone interested, please see Jerry Seaman or Hank Roe. 

6.  Nominating Committee headed by Pat Osborn, assisted by Ron Martin and JaneMarie Dorsey has presented a  Slate of officers who  are: President: Mark Hurlbut, Vice President: Joe Humphrey, Secretary: Jo Spinks, Treasurer: Walt McKechnie, and Wagon Master: Fred Bryant.   

7.  Wagonmaster’s Report: Presented by Ron Collins who is taking Frank Boissey’s place while he is at home caring for Sally.  Linda Sturgis stated she spent the night with Sally, who is resting and  being kept as pain free as possible. 

Thanks to George and Linda Fielder for the great Seminole Trip.  Thanks also to Jo & Al Spinks and Bill & Carol Kugleman for the great Blueberry Hill Trip.

Eve Sandy suggested members send her one picture of their summer vacation and she will place it in the scrapbook.  Eve thanked everyone for all of their good wishes while she was rehabilitating from hip surgery.  Eve also stated that the Christmas Party tickets are on sale today, $25.00 for a member and $30.00 for a non-member or guest.  Tickets will be on sale again at the next meeting. 

Crystal River Rally will start on December 27th and not Dec. 28th as stated on the website.  This rally is full.  Due to this Judy Bertsch has taken the names from the overflow list of Crystal River to host an additional rally that will start on Dec. 28th to Jan. 2nd for 10 sites.  If interested. please call July Bertsch @ 259-0032.

Al Rhoton will try to schedule another Night Golf Game in January. 

Samantha from Turning Wheel RV Center has scheduled a Rally on Nov. 17th to 20th at Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort in Clermont, Fl.  Call Samantha at 352-368-6645 for reservations. 

It will be 4 days, 3 nights for $49.95 including some meals, golf, dancing, chili cook-off and games.    Irwin & Christie King and Walt & Carol Mckechnie will assist in hosting this rally.  

8.  Guest speaker, John Ortiz, president of Home Theater Innovations and Bob’s TV spoke on conversion of TV to digital.  Any questions regarding the transition of TVs and information on convertors, go to “DTV Transition. org”.  The transition date is Feb. 17th, 2009. 

9.  New Members: 7 new couples were introduced.  Welcome new members. 

10.  Dick Scheffler spoke on behalf of Joan Musorrafiti, widow of Joe Musorrafiti.  .  Joe & Joan donated their possessions from their 5th wheel and these items are on stage for all to view and take for your desire.  Any money donations will go to Hospice.   

11.  50/50 drawings.  Three drawings were given out, $50., $40., and $30.

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 10:01 a.m.

1. Wagon Master’s Report: Frank Boissey stated that Ron Collins will be assisting him. New item: This year Frank has decided not to hold the annual January Lazy Days Rally that corresponds with the Tampa RV Show that is held at the Fairgrounds. Our Club will still have a New Years’s Rally at Lazy Days, Dec. 30th to Jan 2, 2009. (Sign ups are at the meetings for this). If you desire to go to the Lazy Days Rally that corresponds with the Tampa RV Show on Jan. 14th to Jan 18th at a cost of $249.00 you can go to it alone or get a few rigs together. Lazy Days has promised that there will be 30 sites set aside for The Villages RV Club, but you must make you own reservation and state that you are from The Villages.. This info will go on the website. If you have any questions call Frank @ 259-3096 or Ron Collins @ 259-2549.
Annual RV Christmas Party will be Dec. 12th. Tickets will go on sale at the Oct. meeting, pay by check to “The Villages RV Club” or cash in the exact amount. If paying for a group, you need to place the money in an envelope with all the names of the group.
We need members to assist with new trips. Call Frank or Ron and they will help you with your ideas. The individual wagon masters spoke on their up-coming rallies. Please see the printed camp-out schedule and also go to the website www.tvrvc.org for all your specific information.

2. Secretary’s Report: Jo Spinks read the minutes of July 11, 2008 and they were approved.

3. Treasurer’s Report: Joe Bertoldi reported a balance of $4,764.60.

4. Oct. Mtg. will be the Potluck Breakfast. Any questions call Barb Fabeck @ 430-0456.
Breakfast will be served at 10:00 a.m.

5. Oct. speaker: John Ortiz, president of Home Theater Innovations and Bob’s TV will speak on conversion of TV to digital.

6. Sunshine Report: Christie King stated she sent a sympathy card to the Gerald Yagle family. He was a former president of the club. Eve Sandy, who has undergone back to back hip replacement surgeries. Sally Wood who is in the Leesburg Hospital with recurrent cancer and Millie Sloan who has breast cancer.

7. Nominating Committee: Thanks to Pat Osborn and her helpful assistants, the Martins and the Dorseys. The nominees will be announced at the October meeting.

8. Oct. information: Members Joe and Joan Musorrafiti have regretfully sold their 5th wheel and they will be donating all of their equipment to The Villages RV Club. Next month these items will be for sale in the parking lot and all monies donated to the Cancer Fund.

A retired Rver has a Sterling Road Master Tow Bar that is For Sale if anyone is interested see Irwin King.

9. New Members: were introduced, two couples and one lady.

10. Joe Bertoldi discussed and played the accordion for the club members enjoyment. Many thanks to Joe for his accomplishment and our enjoyment.

11. 50/50 drawing was handed out.

12. Congratulations to Tom Fox for his recent opening of CC’s Pizzeria at Colony Plaza.

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.   Pledge of Allegiance  

Welcome back to Jerry Seaman.  

Secretary’s Report: Jo Spinks read the minutes of the April 11, 2008 meeting and they were approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Irwin King read the Treasurer’s Report with an ending balance of $xxxx.  

Attention was made that  we have a new ladies’ golf RV visor for $8.00 that is for sale by the merchandising committee.    

Wagon Master’s Report: Walt McKechnie reported for Frank Boissey.  Many thanks to Al & Becky Rhoton for Twilight Golf; Hank & Judy Roe, Jerry & Peg Seaman for the Joyce Armstrong Golf Tournament.  Also thanks to Hank & Judy Roe, Jerry & Peg Seaman, Porter Angel & Kathy Keen for the Crystal River trip.  Thanks again to Ray & Annette Roller for the St. Augustine trip and thanks to Joe & Joan Musorrafiti and Dick & Madge Scheffler for the Dade City Rally.

The Wagon Master Committee is preparing a list of campsites within a short traveling distance.

Hopefully this will help in future planned rallies.

Walt introduced each Wagon Master to explain their up-coming rallies and events.  Please see the website http://www.tvrvc.org/ for all this information.

A new cruise is in the works in April 25 to May 2, 2009 for a 7-night cruise to Bermuda on The MSC Orchestra.   

Sunshine Report: Christie King has sent two sympathy cards on behalf of Pat Humphrey and Bob Campbell.  

Ed Yuiska, Physical Therapist spoke to the membership on exercising at home and on the road.

He suggested taking stretchy bands, rubber ropes and large inflatable balls in the RV as an aid in exercising.  Don’t forget to suck in the bucket!  

Many thanks to Ollie’s for their delicious ice cream and toppings.  

50/50 drawing was held.  

Thanks also to Rich & Betsy of Memory Lane for their musical entertainment.

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.

Secretary’s Report: Jo Spinks read the minutes of the March meeting and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Joe Bertoldi reported an end of the month balance of $5,584.21

Joe also praised Pat Bradley for all of her work with the inventory report, many thanks.

Sunshine Report: Jerry Seaman is doing better and hope to return soon.  There was a very good turn out for Gene Armstrong’s Celebration of Life Service.  Christie King reported that Bob Campbell of Arbor Village was sent a card as was Wanda Francis.  Bill Floyd and Pat Humphrey are in the hospital at this time.

President, Irwin King mentioned that there were two recent Rallies: Valdosta, Georgia and the Cajun Country Rally that were excellent and enjoyed by all.

Entertainment was brought to us by the Brothers Havinghorst, Peter and Arthur.  Many laughs were enjoyed.

Representatives (3) from Verizon Wireless were here to discuss how to have high speed, security and simplicity with your laptop on the road.  Any inquires go to Circuit City of Lady Lake or e-mail Angela Hauser at angela.hauser@verizonwireless.com.  The sale prices only valid from Friday 4/11 to Sunday 4/13.

The Villages RV Club Meeting, Friday, March 14, 2008 .  

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order @ 9:30 a.m.  

PotLuck Breakfast was enjoyed, and thanks to all who donated their time and food. 

Thanks to Rich Kale and Betsy Starr who entertained us with their great music.  

The Picnic tickets are on sale during this meeting.  

Sunshine Committee: Christie King sent cards to Jerry Seaman, who had by-pass surgery, and Karen & Joe Weber who had a golf-cart accident.  A card of appreciation was received from Joyce Armstrong.  It was noted that on April 7th there will be a celebration of Gene’s life @ 10:30 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home on Buenos Aires Blvd.  Please tell Christie if there is anyone who is ill.  

Secretary, Jo Spinks read the minutes of the February meeting.  

Treasurer, Joe Bertoldi read the treasurer’s report.  

Requests: Eve Sandy needs pictures of recently held events and any future events for the scrapbook.

The Villages RV Club Meeting, Friday, February 8, 2008

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Joyce Armstrong thanked everyone on Gene’s behalf for all the prayers and good intentions.

Speaker, Paulette Walz, Public Affairs Specialist for Social Security Administration spoke discussing Retirement, Survivor and Disability benefits.  If you have any questions, please contact the Social Security Office at 1-800-772-1313 or their Leesburg office at 787-2624.  Or go on line at  http://www.socialsecurity.gov   Also, remember Social Security was never intended to support you, it was only intended to help support 40 to 45% of your retirement income. 

Sunshine Committee: Volunteers are needed.  Please contact Christie or Irwin King.

Release of Club Mailing Lists: The Board has established a policy today to restrict the distribution of our mailing lists.  We will only release the mailing list to members of the Board or Wagon Masters on a need to know basis.

Lunch: Head count taken for Beef O’Brady’s

Secretary, Jo Spinks read the minutes of the January meeting.  Noted was the exception that Gene Armstrong is in the Kindred Hospital of the Munroe Regional Medical Center not the Ocala Hospital.                                

Treasurer, Joe Bertoldi read the treasurer’s report.

Collapsible Pull Cart: Ron Martin suggested that one should be purchased for the Merchandising Committee and also the Historian.  Pres.Irwin King stated that if these committees need items to assist them, they have already established approval.

Wagon Master, Frank Boissey introduced his wagon masters for the up- coming trips: Please see the website for detailed information on these trips. 

Additional info on The Joyce Armstrong Golf Outing: Sign ups  are in March.  Event  to be held on Sun. May 4th at Pimlico and Bellmont Golf Courses, $9.00/person.

Twilight Golf:   Change from May 10th to May 3rd, sign ups in March.

Potluck Breakfast, Friday, March 14th, at 9:30 a.m.  Bring more casseroles.

The Villages RV Club Meeting January 11, 2008.

President, Irwin King called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

By unanimous decision, Frank Boissey was elected Wagon Master and Jo Spinks was elected to the position of 
secretary.

Appreciation of Cherie Cook for all her past efforts as secretary.

Introduction of officers and the new Board of Directors:

Speaker: Pete Wahl, retired from Community Development District of the Villages and soon to be Director of 
Community Project of Lake Sumter. Topics discussed:
* How Harold Swartz got started
* Continuing long list for RV storage
* Potable water, need to conserve and irrigate as scheduled
* Questions re. yards, contact Jim Davis of Fl. Yards & Neighborhood Program
* Register to vote
* Go to the District Orientation @ Sumter Landing held @ the district office at 10 a.m.
* The Villages is approximately 25,000 acres, 32 to 33 sq. miles and at built-out 53 to 55,000 roof tops and 
approximately 109,000 people.

President King stated:
* Thanks to Al Sandy for all of his work.
* Club By-Laws are on website, TVRVC.org (also located on back of membership card).
* Committee consisting of: Al Sandy, Tom Schmelzer, Linda Sturgess and Joe Humphrey wiill review the 
By-Laws.
* The Club website organized by our WebMiester, Don Crobsy has good buys and a wealth of information on it.
* A Suggestion Box is now located in the back of the room. Please give your name.
* The Board will meet before every regular meeting.

Linda Sturgess visited Eugene Armstrong:
Gene is doing somewhat better. He is in Ocala Regional Hospital, room 5113, Kindard Section, Ocala, Fl.

Treasurer, Joe Bertoldi reported a new total balance of $4,625.48 in the treasury at the end of 2007.

* 86 rigs going to Lazy Days, another record has been broken. No cancellations for golf
accepted at this time.
* Thanks to the New Years Rally Wagon Masters.
* Possibility of going to Lazy Days next year for New Years.
* March 3-5, Strawberry Festival presented by Judy Bertsch, 8 people have signed up, have 7 more openings.
* March 18-22, Valdosta, Georgia Golf Trip presented by Hank Roe, full, 6 on wait list, itinerary on website.
* March 31-April 5, Cajun Country Rally presented by Al Sandy, 20 to 25 rigs can go. Remember to click on 
the name of the trip and more info will be available on website.
* April 14-17, Anastasia State Park presented by Jane Marie Dorsey for Ray & Annette Roller, near St. 
Augustine, shopping outlets, call Reserve America for reservations due to it being a State Park. Can only take 
25, full. There are 27 on the waiting list. Do not make reservations at this time and expect to be part of the Rally, 
site are full. Questions, call Ray Roller.
* April 21-25, Encore Crystal Isles Resort presented by Jerry Seaman, will contact those who have signed up 
for fishing, may sign up on waiting list, but full.
* April 30-May 3, Dade City Rally presented by Joan Musorrafiti, still time to sign up.
