THE VILLAGES RV CLUB MEETING DATE:_March 12, 2010_ The meeting was called to order at 10:00 A.M. by President Mark Hulbert followed by a moment of silence and prayer for those in harm’s way protecting our freedoms and the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary’s Report: Abbreviated minutes of the February 12, 2009 meeting were approved as read. Complete minutes are posted on TVRVC.org Treasurer’s Report: The financial report was presented by Walt McKechnie and approved as follows: Beginning Balance $3,151.82 Income 239.37 Expenditures 356.22 Ending Balance $3,034.97 Wagon Master’s Report: A special thanks to Fred and his committee on the creation of a revised Wagon Master’s Checklist which will be out shortly. It will certainly take away some of the mystery, mystique, & concerns about being a wagon master. A Wagon Master dangle was presented in absentia to Roger and Sue Kirkpatrick and Jim & Gail Coleman (who continued on to another rally) in recognition of their trip to Lazy Days for the Strawberry Festival this past week. Fred Bryant thanked his committee on the preparation of the revised Wagon Master’s Checklist, which was passed out to members. It’s a suggested list of how to run a trip. He stated this is only a suggestion. Being a Wagon Master, you choose how you wish to run the trip. Fred requested Wagon Masters who are running a trip to make an extra copy of the package for his records. Wagon Masters reviewed the status for upcoming trips as follows: Flamingo Lake, Lion Country Safari in Palm Beach, Carabelle camping & fishing, Biltmore Estates, Savannah/Tybee Island, Wekiva Falls, Lazy Days, W. Virginia, Everglades City, Albuquerque Balloon Festival, Mediterranean Cruise, Hillsborough River State Park, southern Carribean Cruise in February 2011. Once again, Fred encouraged members to sign up to be Wagon Masters. Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be a breakfast meeting. Judy Bertsch and her team are hosting a breakfast meeting. Judy reminded members to bring their egg, meat, fruit, or bread dishes and to be sure your name is on your dish and serving utensils. 50/50: One of the revenue producing opportunities for the club is 50/50. Mark reminded members that they still have an opportunity to purchase 50/50 tickets before the drawing at the end of the meeting. Joyce Armstrong Tournament: Al Rhoton is the chair person for the Joyce Armstrong Tournament. The tournament is May 16th, which is the 3rd Sunday in May. The cost is $9 per person and tee times will begin at 1:00 P.M. We will be playing on the Belmont and Pimlico courses. A box lunch will be provided. At the present time we are about half full so we can take on more players. Foursomes can be arranged if you’d like. Resale Items: President Hulbert remarked that there are still some items on the table for resale. Be sure to check it out before you leave. Sunshine Report: Carol McKechnie reported that as far as she knew everyone was well. We did lose one member, Alice Holzapfel, who passed away. It was subsequently reported that Karen Weber had surgery.
Guest Speaker: Today we had a special presentation by Brett Howard, President of the Alliance Coach Corporation, which is located in Wildwood. Brett indicated they have a wide range of services, including full service in their 62 sq. ft. facility, including a 40 site campground at $20 a night. Brett brought key chains, flyers, and catalogs outlining their services. They are located on Route 44 about ½ mile east of Route 301.
New Members/Guests: 3 new members were introduced and welcomed with free koozies. 50/50 Drawing: 3 monetary prizes were awarded; 2 for $50 and 1 for $45 Next Meeting: April 9 Motion to adjourn at: 10:55 A.M. In closing Mark reminded members to use the web site for information about the club. Those interested will be meeting at Cici’s Pizza for lunch.
